Hi everyone,
For whoever don’t know Segami Images or whoever don’t know who I am.
I am here to introduce myself to you. I think XR and Keith (My 2 other partners) are going to introduce themselves to you too. haha
I am a photographer (Obviously :p), started using a film camera since 16 yrs old, still remember that time I was just a student and I had to lie to my parent saying that I was going to friend’s house to study every weekend. At the end I ended up in fast food house serving customers to earn enough money to buy my first SLR camera. ;p
Photography has always been my passion, my father, brother and uncle’s passion. But they are all hobblist, unlike me, I prefer to share my vision and my dream to others. hehe
I enjoy photographing wedding, the bride, the bridegroom, their guests, the flowers, the smiles, the laughter and so on in a more candid, artistic and natural way. Of course I love baby and children too. I have 3 myself ho ho.
I studied in UK for about 8 yrs since I was 17 yrs old. It’s a great experiences for me actually. I have no regret going there even though I was all alone over there at the beginning. Having difficulty communicating with the ppl over there.
I took many travel photographs while I was in UK with my crap SLR camera, at the end I had to switch to Nikon FM2 because of the cold weather over there.
I basically worked over almost every weekend in my past 8 yrs in UK. Not enough money for my expenses. My parents only gave a bit more than enough money for my tuition fee and a bit of pocket money. So I had to do that, whereas all my classmate will be enjoying their weekend. Anyway, it was sorta fun also, meeting loads of friends and main thing is I learnt how to cook in the takeaway and resturant.
One thing I regretted is that I didn’t have much time for traveling, and of course, no money for that, and I actually didn’t take a lot of photos back then. Developing fee were a bomb in UK, as a poor students, there are no way I can afford this hobby and I ended up putting my camera aside most of the time. How I wish I can go back to UK one more time to visit all my friends back there. Really missed them a lot.
O almost forgot to mention, I am actually not a Singaporean. I am from Hong Kong. But I am in Singapore, married to my wife and have 3 kids and btw I m not old haha. ;p
I started offering photography after my wedding and formed Segami Images in 2003, it’s always been my dream to go after this industry, although I had been prohibited by my father to learn photography and art during Uni time. He said he had been through it and he doesn’t want me to suffer, well times are different, more ppl appreciate art nowadays, at least that’s what I thought. (The sad thing is, not many in Singapore)
When photography became an expensive hobby in UK, I started going to places in London where there are a lot of artists drawing for ppl on the street, I could stood there for hours and hours to learn how they draw. And then I went home and practice for days hehe. I guess it’s in the genes, somehow I just cannot run away from my father’s genes. And ended up in the same art industrial hehe.
I have tried taking all kinda photos, macro, building, nature, portrait, wedding…etc. I realised that I love to take portrait and wedding especially in a more natural and artistic form. Some ppl call it Journalistic Photography, to me, it’s just my art. I don’t like to copy or follow the standard. I like what I vision. And I also like illusion kind of shots.
I never hope everyone also can appreciate on the photos. Just a few will do.
just me! me art! me dream! me photos!
